Mike Arnold’s ascendancy within skateboarding has been one of unique interpretation. He’s constantly looking for the difference, from his choice of skate spots, often making something out of nothing, to his powerful yet finessed execution of tricks. Growing up in the UK, terrace culture is strong, and after combing the adidas archive and buying vintage adidas shoes. For Mike Arnold’s second colorway he settled on the handball top as his favorite.
DESIGN:
Combining two opposing worlds: tropical oceans and terrace culture, Mike was drawn to the color and style of vintage indoor court shoes. After skating various hand-ball shoes, he opted to use the tooling of the Handball Top and took the upper from a Handball 5 Plug. With the color and panelling abstracted from the Blue Tang fish, the Handball Top x Mike was born.
MATERIALS:
The upper features mixed materials with suede, neoprene, faux stingray, and synthetic to provide comfort, texture and durability. Unique details are the lace stopper closure, adopted from trail shoes, which completes Mike’s vision for this modern and fully skateable indoor silhouette.
